Poems

A series of poems, dedicated to the one who is lost in the wilderness. Even here, God sees you and you will find refreshment for your weary soul.

Desert Grace 1

Days go by

And nights race through the sky

You grow older

and your life stretches through the margins

You long for rest.

Long for warmth and the ocean

Laughter and far horizons

Friends, and the voice of the One

Whom you haven’t heard of for a long time

Somewhere in your heart is an emptiness

A leak that drips the wastelands dry

And you cry

Because your heart longs for His embrace and His Words

But your mind has closed off and grown cold over recent years

You don’t know how to open the gates

Though you’ve tried and lost grace

This weary pace

This heavy place

Can you trust His face

And embrace your faith?

Desert Grace 2

It’s true

That you will always look

For something new

Something to still the sorrowful storm

Slipping into your heart.

You run from experience to experience

You seek out new people and places

You swallow all of life’s lies

Because you just want to survive.

You run a race without an end

Tracking the wastelands

Through desert pans

Empty footprints leaving

Scars upon your hands

It never ends

It never begins

But you’re blind to all these things

Somewhere along

You’ve forgotten your dreams

But I promise you

The path of your life

Will always be a confusing maze

You’ll always be lost in this haze

Unless you look to

the One

Who made the Sun

Look to the King

Give Him all you can bring

He made you

perfectly

Loves you completely

And never will He

Leave you

WATER into wine

There is a desert space

A place hard and hot

The sand screams as I walk over the broken places

And my heart burns in the dry heat

The wind drops ashes at my feet

I get on my knees

Tears falling rivers in the desolate waste

And I cry because I know You are here

Here in this lonely place

Here in the midst of shame and pain

Here in the midst of me

Your wind from heaven gathers rain

And water gushes over the plains

Your river sweeps past endless sorrow

And turns the sand into streams

You smile into the depths of me

And wine bubbles up inside

And spills into the ocean

I am free
